We like to hang out in the kitchen, and this time we tried to make bread!
Mini bread without dairy. It was Will's first time in his lifetime to make bread, so Alan was very proud that he was trying to teach how to knead. It was funny to watch. Will didn't get to knead as much as he wished, which was dissapointing for him.
While the boys were kneading, Leina did a good camera pose. Unbelievable!
well done, Leina is checking as well.
From the oven.
We also made pizza dough as well using Wulfgang Puck recipe.
It is a very simple easy recipe and the result comes out consistantly good. My kids even like it. With hawaiian toppings.
My mom used to cook and bake (still does every day, of course) all different sorts of stuff. Especially when my brother and I were small, she baked bread quite often.
Dinner rolls, bread with chocolate filling, savory bread etc.
It was such fun and warm memory and I really appreciate as a parent now what she did to us. It was much easier for her to buy the ready-made bread or whatever from the store, and she could have done it, but she consiously chose not to do it. There are lot of different family value, and I am not going to say and cannot say what is right or wrong, and I am sure children will grow fine whatever way, but as I appreciate very much what my mom did to us, I would like to do the same, consiously try to share time and skill that I have to my children, and hopefully plant "warmth" in their memory....
It is snowing outside, this makes the third highest volume of snow in Ann Arbor! Or will it keep snowing and change the history?
